Asahi Broadcasting Group Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy

 

Asahi Broadcasting Group ("we," "the Group") continues to evolve as a dynamic and creative corporate organization, adapting to social change and contributing to the development of society. We utilize artificial intelligence (AI) and related technologies to achieve this business philosophy. 

 

We view the use of AI as an important opportunity to enrich lives through innovation, solving social issues and enhancing productivity and creativity through more efficient business processes.

 

At the same time, we recognize that the rapid development of AI and expanded scope of use could have a negative impact on society if used unwisely. We are a corporate group built around a core media business. We understand the high degree of public and social responsibility entrusted to us, and we take the risks AI may pose seriously.

 

All officers and employees of the Asahi Broadcasting Group Holdings Corporation and Group companies (entities listed as Group companies on our corporate website, excluding equity-method affiliates) have pledged to comply with the following five principles and engage in the responsible use of AI. We will continue to review our governance structure flexibly to respond quickly to technological developments and social changes.

 

 

1. Taking on the challenge of innovation under the principle of human-centered design
We respect human rights, using AI for the purpose of contributing to the betterment of our community and culture.

We view AI as a means to expand human capabilities and enrich society. As a dynamic and creative corporate organization, we incorporate the use of AI-related technologies to contribute to the development of society by creating novel content, rich experiential value, and customer-centered services.

 

2. Protecting intellectual property and ensuring information reliability
When using AI, we place the highest priority on protecting intellectual property and ensuring information reliability.

 

Protecting Intellectual Property
We appropriately protect and use our own intellectual property, including our own copyrighted works. We also respect the intellectual property rights of others.

 

Responding to False Information and Misinformation
We strive to eliminate the risk of false information, misinformation, and biased representations arising from the development of AI technology. We respond promptly and appropriately when such risks materialize or are likely to materialize.

 

3. Establishing a governance structure and ensuring transparency
We have established an ABC Group-wide governance structure related to the appropriate adoption and use of AI. Our structure clarifies responsible parties and ensures the transparency and accountability of related processes.

 

4. Complying with laws, regulations, policies, etc.
We respect international principles and frameworks with respect to the use of AI. We comply with domestic laws and relevant guidelines, as well as the policies of the ABC Group, including the Asahi Broadcasting Group Compliance Charter and Compliance Code of Conduct, the Asahi Broadcasting Group Human Rights Policy, the Asahi Broadcasting Group Basic Policy for the Handling of Personal Information, and the Basic Information Security Policy.

 

5. Learning and evolving for the future
The relationship between AI technology and society is constantly changing. We continue to improve our ability to use AI appropriately (AI literacy) and update our ethical standards in response to dialogues with society.
